We are always busy and bustling. Everyone is always on the go and on call. However, if you’re looking closely at your skin, you’ll notice that its taking quite a toll on it. Inadequate rest affects everything, especially your skin. When you have skin that’s not at its best, everything you put on it won’t be at its best. It doesn’t matter what $100 cream you slather on day and night, if you can’t get enough sleep then you’re doing it all in vain.
When you don’t get enough sleep, you body doesn’t have enough time to repair itself, including you skin tissue. During sleep, your body uses this time to replenish itself. The energy not being used (because you are at rest) is being spent on cell renewal. This is especially important if you have sensitive skin, or you somehow managed to do a scrub before you hit the bed (or couch).
If you skin is tried, clogged and covered in dead cells, then your sebaceous glands aren’t going to be able to secrete sebum without causing inflammation. Your pores are openings in the skin that allow you to sweat (a natural cooling reflex), if those are clogged then your adversely affecting the way your body functions.
If you don’t get enough sleep and you wake up in a rush, you barely get time to run out of the door fully clothed, much less after you skin care routine. This is an indirect effect of too little sleep. You end up neglecting your skin. Its not doing you any favours to come home a fall in to a 3 hour coma without taking off your makeup either. In short, neglecting your skin simply because you’re tired isn’t a good excuse.
Being busy and overloaded with work makes you stressed. Throw in too little sleep and you’ve got a catalyst. Now you’re stressed out even more. Your body is stressed out because you’re working overtime without getting enough rest and now you’re mentally exhausted. This makes you prone to breakouts, blemishes and other bumps that can occurs on the face. And the vicious cycle starts because you’re stressed and upset that your skin has breakouts. Thus begins the cycle of bad skin.
Solution? Simply put get some rest. Of course this won’t cure all of your woes, but alongside with a good diet, exercise and proper care you’ll do fine. Time management is very crucial here. Keep in mind binge sleeping to make up for the sleep you lost is a bad idea, and is actually useless. Once you’ve lost sleep, you can’t get it back. Oversleeping isn’t that good for your skin either. Seven hours of sleep will suffice for you and your skin. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing.
