Organising your Desk

Your desk is your command center. It’s organized can help set the tone and productivity level at work.

Purge Your Space

Getting started is the hardest part. Organising your desk space starts with a total purge. Clear everything off your desk,

Get Your Layout Right

Your monitor should be in front of you at eye-level and about 17-inches from your body.

Put frequently-used items, like the phone or supplies, on your dominant side to avoid having to reach across.

Mind Your Office Supplies

Supplies used every day can go on the desk. Items used a couple times a week should go in a drawer under or to the side of a desk. Make sure your daily use items—laptop, project folders, writing utensils, and so on—get prime real estate over figurines and photos of your dog.

Label Everything

If you so choose, investing in a good label-maker will save you all the time you waste searching for things. It’s easier to stay organized when you know where everything is.

Straighten Up Before You Go

Use the last five minutes of your day to clear off any clutter from your desk that may have accumulated throughout the day.
