Digital marketers need more than a computer and an internet connection. Appealing to an online crowd takes more “offline” skills than you think.
1. A Keen Mind
Data is just data unless you can find a way to use it. Analysing your data and drawing meaningful feedback is important. This goes beyond the numbers we obsess over on the internet. You need to access situations and understand the meaning behind metrics.
2. Teeth
You need grit. Digital marketing isn’t easy – there are lots of competitors and lots of ineffective shortcuts being lauded online. The better marketers are resilient. Perseverance is a stubbornness to work through long hours, near impossible deadlines, and the random things that pop up at moments notice.
3. An Active Imagination
What is the world without wonder? How can you create campaigns that are unique and captivating without some amount of creativity? Using your imagination is all about embracing your own perspective. Everyone has a different way of processing information so use that to your advantage.
4. Patience
We might not have all the time in the world, but real results take time. You shouldn’t rush to get your work done and you can’t be impatient for the results. Marketing is a process and our goals are only met when we check all the boxes through trial and error.
