Organising your Desk

Your desk is your command center. It’s organized can help set the tone and productivity level at work.

Purge Your Space

Getting started is the hardest part. Organising your desk space starts with a total purge. Clear everything off your desk,

Get Your Layout Right

Your monitor should be in front of you at eye-level and about 17-inches from your body.

Put frequently-used items, like the phone or supplies, on your dominant side to avoid having to reach across.

Mind Your Office Supplies

Supplies used every day can go on the desk. Items used a couple times a week should go in a drawer under or to the side of a desk. Make sure your daily use items—laptop, project folders, writing utensils, and so on—get prime real estate over figurines and photos of your dog.

Label Everything

If you so choose, investing in a good label-maker will save you all the time you waste searching for things. It’s easier to stay organized when you know where everything is.

Straighten Up Before You Go

Use the last five minutes of your day to clear off any clutter from your desk that may have accumulated throughout the day.

Benefits of Salmon

The health benefits of eating salmon include the following:

Great Source Of Lean Protein

Proteins, or accumulations of amino acids, are essential components of our cells, tissues, enzymes, hormones and every other body part. The proteins from salmon and most other fishes are easily digestible and easily absorbed into the body.

Protects The Brain & Nerves

The omega-3 fatty acids increase the efficiency of brain functions, improves memory and keep it active during long working hours. These fatty acids protect the nervous system from damage related to aging, acts as an antidepressant, relaxes the brain, and helps in treating Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Cardiovascular Health

While the omega-3 fatty acids help reduce cholesterol, maintain flexibility of arteries and veins and strengthen cardiac muscles, the essential amino acids repair damages to the cardiovascular tissues. They help reduce the blood pressure as well, by lowering cholesterol levels and preventing the hardening of artery walls. This considerably reduces the chances of heart attacks.

Skin Care

Owing to high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids, salmon can reduce inflammation, reduce pore clogging, and erase fine lines and wrinkles.

Weight Loss

It is the right meal choice for those who wish to lose weight and keep it off because of its high protein content, which regulates hormones that control appetite and makes you feel satiated.

Boosts Metabolism

The omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D and selenium within salmon all combine to help manage insulin levels throughout the body, thereby facilitating the absorption of sugar and the subsequent lowering of blood sugar levels.

Adding Salmon to your diet!

Tips for Time Management

Time Management refers to managing time effectively so that the right time is allocated to the right activity.

Set goals the right way

Use the SMART goal method to help you see things through.

MITs are best in the morning

These are your most important tasks (MITS) of the day. Accomplishing those will give you the biggest momentum to help you sail through the rest of the day.

Schedule email response times

Turn off your email throughout the day. Schedule time to read and respond to emails. When you have your email open, those distractions interrupt your thought flow and it’s harder to get back on track.

Make to-do lists in the evening for the next day

Before bed, make a list for the next day. By making to-do lists, you’re effectively setting goals for the day. Daily goals are easier to achieve while helping to move us towards the longer and bigger goals.

Turn off social media alerts

Turn them off. You don’t need alerts every moment or to know everything happening with your friends. It’s not important. What’s most important is to have some peace of mind and be better able to focus on the task at hand.

How to Make Fresh-Cut Flowers Last Longer

Flowers are a common gift for any of life’s special occasions and even the moments in between. A bouquet of bright blooms can bring cheer to any space and leave a lasting impression, even after they’re gone.

The sad truth is that fresh cut flowers don’t last forever. However, there are guidelines you can use to ensure the longevity of your flowers.

Refrigeration

Put your bouquet in the fridge every night before bed (typically 8 hours per night.) Flowers are said to thrive in cooler temperatures. It is thought that the low temps help slow the aging. Looks like floral bouquets like to stay nice and cool.

Add Flower Food

Adding flower food to your vase of fresh flowers is a tried and true way to keep your blooms fresh longer. Each of our tested bouquets also received a packet of flower food along with their treatment.

Add Soda

Pour ¼ cup of soda in a vase full of fresh flowers. The sugar in soda is said to make your blooms last longer and even smelling sweeter too. Looks like flowers enjoy some extra sweetness.

DIY: Coffee and Sugar Scrub

This is a super simple tutorial about one of the greatest scrubs you can prepare for you skin. The best part? It’s cheap and can be made from your kitchen.

For this scrub I used brown sugar which is much smoother than table sugar, which typically has sharper edges on each grain. Sugar is also has glycolic acid, which helps cell turnover and renewal. Another acid present in sugar is AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid), another helpful chemical exfoliant. Speaking of exfoliation, the most obvious benefit of sugar is that its crystal are a great mechanical exfoliant.

The second ingredient is coffee. More specifically instant coffee. It’s not as strong as a fresh brew, but it is also a good exfoliant. Another added benefit would be the revitalising effects of caffeine. This drug stimulates blood flow in your skin which has many perks for your skin: cell renewal, skin tightening, redness reduction, antioxidant properties. Also, you should note that coffee can have a slight ‘bronzing’ effect on your skin.

Argan oil can be substituted for any other oil of your choice, but argan oil works wonders on my sensitive skin. Alternatively, coconut oil and castor oil will suffice.

Once I’ve rounded up my ingredients and a small mixing bowl, I mix the brown sugar and the coffee at a 2:1 ratio. Add just a small amount of oil to make the mixture into a thin paste. The end result is a dark, sticky paste.

Now you can apply the paste to a wet face, but be sure to keep your hair away from your face to prevent the paste from getting into it. With your fingers, apply a small amount and gently rub it on your face and neck. Keep at this in circular motion. Afterwards, leave it in for about a minute or two. If the paste is too runny, then you may have added a bit too much oil. When you’re finished, wash out your face with lukewarm water and pat dry. Don’t forget to moisturise afterwards.
